MY SHORT VIEWS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF EATCS:
The main point as I can see are:
- EATCS should be the leading organization supporting the research and education in theoretical science, mainly in Europe;
- It should be broad supporting all different directions, and in particular capable of cooperating with more focused organizations;
- It must play an active role in science policy of European Community, in particular, to try to get more funding for basic research;
- It must do all efforts to improve the image and attractiveness of basic research among young brilliant researchers - here awards and visibility in media would be important tools;
- It should make use of the potentials to attract brilliant researchers from eastern counties, in particular from Russia and far east counties like China and India.
