THE TRAVEL GRANTS HAVE NOW BEEN DISTRIBUTED! WE ARE NOT ABLE TO HANDLE FURTHER REQUESTS FOR TRAVEL SUPPORT.

Limited travel support is available for student participants. Students intending to attend the summer school can apply for travel support to cover partial expenses. However, we hope that everyone will first ask their own department or e.g. a private foundation for financial support. The EWM local coordinators are happy to assist you in finding a suitable source. The contact details for the country coordinators can be found at the EWM home page.

Priority will be given to the student applicants presenting their work at the student sessions.
Send a short application e-mail to Camilla Hollanti, cajoho [at] utu [dot] fi, stating the following things:
-name, age, sex, institute, degrees
-how many years of PhD studies you have completed by the time of the summer school
-if you are a master level student, shortly describe your future research plans and give a date you will graduate (approximately)
-state whether you will submit a paper for the student sessions, and under which of the three mini-course topics it best suits for
-state any other possible resources you have for covering the expenses
-any other facts that you think that may affect our decision.

Important:

We will make preliminary decisions concerning the travel support application on April 30. So we kindly ask you to hurry with your application if you have not yet applied but still wish to do so! In case we get more sponsors after the preliminary decisions have been made, the amounts may increase, and/or few more students could be supported.

The support money will be distributed to the recipients towards original receipts upon arrival (unless we directly pay your local costs). A copy of a receipt will do, if the sum is bigger than the support and someone else will reimburse the rest.

To those who have already applied but have not yet paid the registration fee

1) If you still want us to consider your travel grant application, please send an e-mail to Camilla Hollanti by May 15 and confirm that you are still planning to attend.
2) Keep in mind that our support won't in any case be more than 350 euros. So if this is not enough in order for you to attend, please let us know so someone else can benefit from this money.
